The Save Our Seas Foundation (SOSF) is a philanthropic organization supporting global research in the field of marine science since 2003. With its head office based in Geneva, Switzerland the organization manages three centres, the Shark Research Centre in the USA, the Shark Education Centre in South Africa and the D’Arros Research Centre in Seychelles.
The SOSF D’Arros Research Centre (SOSF-DRC) is based on D’Arros Island in the Amirantes with the mission preserve and showcase the ecological integrity of D’Arros and St Joseph atoll through research, monitoring, restoration and education. On a daily basis the SOSF-DRC runs long-term projects with its permanent team, as well as supports project leaders to undertake science on site. Although there is a strong focus on elasmobranchs and marine research, the centre is also dedicated to education and capacity building in Seychelles to help build the foundation for future generations to know and care about the ocean.
